I met Tom and the Surefix Direct team when I was Laing O’Rourke’s planning Manager on a large-scale key city centre project in Nottingham where they represented the Specialist Glazing Company enlisted for the large volume of windows, curtain walling and fire rated systems. This was an extremely difficult and challenging build. Tom and Surefix team project managed and installed the frameworks and glass on the project overcoming many lift challenges, introducing an array of specialist cranes and equipment we’d not seen before to overcome the crane strike issues. The quality of installation and their ability to overcome problems, at times re-designing elements, was essential on this project. Tom’s attendance in the project meetings, often going into the evenings showed dedication and focus. He was always informative and aware in representing the client’s interests and the project, with common sense, analogies, determination, and humour. I’ve since used Surefix Direct to specify, supply and install the windows, bifold doors and large span sliding doors at my home and highly recommend their services.

I have used Surefix Direct’s services for 20 years, both on my own home extension and during my time at Carcraft and Evans Helshaw as General Manager. Surefix carried out many works at Carcraft in Sheffield with a fast response, care, and professionalism, they became the go to guys for Carcraft and the muti site contact for maintenance and improvement works offering great advice and ideas to achieve the required outcome. These were huge sites which were open 7 days a week until late so works had to be planned and carried out in tight time frames. Surefix were the preferred contractor in Carcraft’s plans to open and fit out further pilot sites which were scrapped in the recession shortly before Carcrafts closure. I continued used their services for maintenance works at the Evans Helshaw Doncaster site I oversaw after the closure of Carcraft. I continue to use and recommend their services and advice in my current role at Pentagon, they have already given me options for a scheme of site improvement works at my site in Loughborough.

I met Tom years ago under recommendation when I was looking for a solution for a garden outbuilding i’d built out of timber. I wanted something modern looking with the dark frameworks and was considering aluminium bifolding systems as I liked the look of them. When we discussed budgets Tom quickly talked me out of a drastic overspend and designed the perfect solution for practicality and budget achieving the exact look I wanted. Surefix Direct fitted some more doors and screens to other outbuildings and entrances. I’ve since used Surefix Direct again for my house windows and doors, the attention to quality and detail is impeccable.

As my time as a contracts manager with Hurricane Architectural, I worked with Surefix Direct on a number of projects, which most were not the run of the mill installations. I found that Tom Smith and his installation team were not the run of the mill installation subcontractors.
